This is a story that I wrote a little over a year ago, it is about my basketball game
against Happy Valley Middle School in seventh grade.
Five seconds left in the game, down by four, the score was 22 to 18, the ball goes
up, goes around the rim and spits back out… Buzz! Wow…. disappointment, defeat,
frustration.
Our fifth game, we have only won two games so far. It was our only chance to
win again. Pacheco verses Happy Valley. We went in the game anticipating it. We
came out of the game anticipating the next game against Happy Valley Middle School.
As we were warming up failure never entered my mind or my teammate’s. We
felt as if we already had this game in the bag. This is not the attitude I should have
had. I should have had a fair attitude to both teams no matter who the other team was.
The clock buzzed signaling the game to start. Number 52, on Happy Valley’s
team and I went to the middle of the court. The ball went up, came back down with a
thud into my point guard’s hand. She went down the court, went in for a layup, in! So
far, things were going our way. Happy Valley dribbled it down the court, the PG passed
it to their wing, Erica Caldwell intercepted it! Erica went down the court passed it to her
sister, Alijah, and Alijah shot up the ball, it bounced off the rim into my hands, I posted
up, and the ball bounced off the backboard and came down. It was like a mad house out
there, so my parents said, twenty hands going up for the ball. It eventually got into the
basket by Alijah. It was like that for the rest of the quarter, eventually ending Pacheco up
by five points.
The second quarter started. Happy Valley’s ball. Happy Valley played like the
first quarter never happened. The second quarter ended in Happy Valley’s favor.
We were starting to feel defeated. Mr. Johnson gave us a pep talk at the half.
I started to remember the things my dad told me, box out, rebound, post up, have a good
attitude, and most importantly, play for Christ.
In the second half my we were going to play like the first half never happened.
We started to press them. I was staying back just in case they got the ball and started to
come down. They did. Number 52 got the ball and started running down, I was ready
for her. I had my feet planted and she ran right into me knocking me down. The ref
called it a blocking foul on me! I was very frustrated at the ref. It should have been a
charging foul on Happy Valley. I brushed by me though. She charged me a lot in the
third quarter. But the refs didn’t call it.
In the fourth quarter it was 21 to 18. It stayed that way until the last two minutes.
The last two minutes of that game were the worst two minutes of my life. We kept
fouling each other back and forth. That was when they got one more point on a free
throw. It was 22 to 18. There was still 50 seconds left. There was still hope that we
could win, but that didn’t happen. When the horn sounded off I couldn’t believe Happy
Valley’s terrible unsportmanship attitudes. They were cheering and making rude remarks
to us when we were high-fiving them and saying good game. I was about ready to
explode with anger. To keep the anger in me I was remembering that I would get to play
against them next year. So after that day in November 2008 I was going to practice and
get better and then next year I would be ready.
I know in the title it says that it was the best game and reading the end of the story it sounds like the worst game. But that's not the case. The reason it is was the best game was because that game taught me a lot of things that night, about myself and my teamates. Our attitudes and most importantly the way Happy Valley veiwed me, as a Christain or a non-beliver. And after that game I was probally wiewed as a non-beliver. But next time they see me I will make good impression on them and they will say, "who is that, she doesn't look familar".

Thanksgiving Day
So today is Thanksgiving. It is not going to be the same as all the other years. Auntie Brenda is with the Walker's and Aunt Alicia is at the Moore's. It is just my family and Grandma and Grandpa. We are going to try to make the best of it, but we'll see. We are still going to have all the GREAT food but not (all) of the GREAT family. We are having turkey, ham, cranberry sauce, olives, pickles, green bean casserole, rolls, and of course the best part, pies, lots and lots of pies. We are going to have pumkin pie, cherry pie, and my favorite blackberry pie. And we have all of the great snacks too! My Dad and Grandpa are watching football so I can't put on christmas music :( what a shame. So even though we don't have ALL the family, we are still going to have a great Thanksgiving! And by the way my mom is running the turkey trot(6 mile). "Aunt Alicia and Auntie Brenda have a good Thanksgiving(with out us)

New Church
I went to Neighborhood Church today and it was awesome! It wasn't anything like Cloverdale. The music there was like you were at a concert! There was a violin, bass, electric and acoustic guitar, and an awesome drum player! The Jr. High Sunday school room was like a game room you see on TV. I saw Kala Richardson, Mr. Fells, and the Winkilmans. I want to go back there again next week and I can't wait until Tuesday for youth group!

First Day of School
Today was probably the most craziest day of school. When I was going to school I was nervous and very excited. Then when I got to school I got tackled literally. Because nobody knew that I was coming back to Pacheco. And all my friends were screaming because they were so happy to see me. And everybody kept saying," I thought you were going to Happy Valley." And I said," I thought I was to." And it was really hectic because at the last minute they changed every ones schedule. I have history first which is kinda weird. And then I have algebra. And I absolutely do not like algebra. And I all ready had the same algebra class last year so nothing is going to new to me. And then we finally get a break. And then it is back to class. I then go to science. And I don't like science because it is pretty much, not all of it, anti God. And the teacher for this class is pretty cool I think. But every body from eighth grade last year said she was mean. My opinion is different. And after that I go to my favorite teacher and class. So they match up pretty well then. It is Language Arts. I like this class because I love to write. And all this class does is write. And then I go to lunch. I love this part of school except for the fact that there is only 30 minutes!! which is barely enough time to eat. And then we only have about 5 minutes to get out all of our energy. So that is really lame. And after lunch I go to PE. I really like this class except for the fact that we have to run and I have a bottom locker! And did not want a bottom locker because I am a really tall girl and I am on the bottom. And then I go to music. Which is pretty fun except for the fact that I have to step way way out of my comfort zone, because he makes us sing and I do not like singing in front of people. So that class is OK. And then I have accelerated reading. I love to read but I don't like being made to read. I like to read when I feel like it. And the good thing about this class is that on Mondays I wont have this class because all Mondays are minimum days. So I had a really fun, hectic, exciting day. You want to know something crazy? Hope is starting grade school and I'm ending grade school. Pretty cool, huh? And now on to Hope, Noah, and Dad. This part won't be as long because I wasn't with them so I don't know exactly what they did. Mom took Hope to school and as far as I know it went pretty well. She makes friends easily unlike me. So that gave her an advantage. And a cool thing is that Hope already knows her teachers name, Mrs. Perkins. So Hope had fun as far as I know. On to Noah. Noah was very excited. He was soooo happy to go see Carrie. And I can imagine Carrie was pretty excited to see him to. And now Dad. I have a absolutely no idea how my dad's day went but he said it was fine when he got home. I think he is really excited about it. So there was everybodys first day of school. You want to know somehting else? Nobody will be home tomorrow except Grandpa. He is pretty excited!

My Motorcycle Trip
These pictures were taken at Mt. Shasta

These next pictures were taken at Crater Lake

There in the distance is the phantom ship. It is really just a rock though.

This is the lodge I was telling you about.

I told you the lake was blue.

Well I'm home from my long motorcycle trip. Did you miss me? Of course you did. You people have no idea how bad sitting on a motorcycle for 2 straight hours hurts (on my dad's bike. On Uncle Zachary's it might be a little different). Let me tell you, it hurts like crazy! On the first day we went to Medford and stayed the night at Holiday Inn. While we were there we went out to a mexican place that the front desk recomended. It was ok but it wasn't the best place in the world, but it was good. And for dinner we went to Kalidoscope Pizza. It was better then the mexican place and the front desk recomended that place too. We also went miniture golfing. I don't remember who won. But I'm pretty sure I did. Just kidding, I dont know who won. Then we had a wonderful night sleep. Then we were up and riding again the next morning. We went to Crater Lake. That ride wasn't as painful or long as the day before. Crater Lake is probaly God's most beautiful creation. It was soooo blue and pretty. It was a lot bigger then I thought it was going to be. Which is a good thing I guess. And for lunch we went to the Crater Lake Lodge. That place was really good too. My dad says that he is going to take my mom to that lodge some day. Then after lunch we went around the whole lake. It only took about a half of an hour. It was beautiful. Then we drove for about 60 miles and we stopped at Klamath Falls to stay the night. We stayed at the Shiloh Inn. That was a really nice hotel. We didnt really do anything in Klamath Falls. We just went to dinner at Apple Bees. I got the biggest burger I have ever seen! It was super good. Then we had another wonderful night sleep. And in the morning... that's right another long trip home. But we did stop in Dunsmir for lunch. Then it was next stop home. And now(Aunt Alicia) get ready for a whole lot of pictures.

Then the Lord said, "Let it rain in August"
Can you believe this, it is raining in August!! Well anyway today I went to town and I had to get up at 9:30!! Which is not normal for a teenage girl at the end of summer. Then my dad took me over to Katie's house. I did not get to go over to her house last night because there was 6 other teenage friends of Chris over! So here I am now. And tomorrow we have to get up at 7 because tomorrow is our "annual breakfast on Fridays". Which that it is not normal either to wake up at 7! So that will be one fun thing that I'm going to do today.
